Back on Track Project Activities in Kraljevo: Supporting Rural Youth

Philanthropy, is actively implementing the Back on Track project in Kraljevo, as part of a broader international initiative carried out across 10 Danube Region countries in cooperation with 13 partner organizations. The project is aimed at supporting young people from rural areas who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET category), with a special focus on building their capacities and improving access to the labor market. Emphasis is placed on developing digital skills and enabling remote work opportunities, empowering youth to remain in their local communities and contribute to their development.

In June, a series of activities took place in Kraljevo under the scope of this project. Workshops dedicated to the mental health of young people were organized, recognizing this as a vital aspect of personal growth and social and professional inclusion. These workshops are designed to support participants in overcoming challenges and boosting their self-confidence.

An informational and promotional stand was set up in the city center of Kraljevo, providing citizens with insight into the project’s objectives and activities. It also served as a point of contact for those interested in getting involved. Printed materials were distributed and team members had conversations with the public.

Informative sessions were held at the building of the Regional Chamber of Commerce, targeting potential beneficiaries and interested partners. These sessions presented detailed plans for inclusion in the mentorship program and provided a platform for networking and collaboration.

A three-day mentor training was also conducted in June, preparing future mentors to work with NEET youth in Kraljevo in the coming months. The training focused on developing essential skills and knowledge required for working empathetically and effectively with this vulnerable group.

As part of the practical segment, mentors visited the rural villages of Obrva and Milakovac. This field experience allowed mentors to engage directly with local youth, hear about their everyday challenges, and better understand their needs. The open conversations offered valuable insights into their experiences, doubts, aspirations, and visions for the future.

This training represents a key step in strengthening the mentorship network and providing tailored support to young people outside the education and employment systems. Field visits were crucial for establishing direct contact with rural youth and ensuring that future support reflects their real-life circumstances.

The Back on Track project and all activities conducted in Kraljevo highlights the importance of local engagement, collaboration, and dedicated efforts in supporting youth on their path toward independence and employment. Philanthropy continues its mission of implementing programs that empower individuals and contribute to the sustainable development of local communities.
